Who We Are
Mouvman Lavwa Dime (MLD) is a youth-led civic movement with one purpose: building a more just, united, and forward-looking Mauritius.
We were founded on a simple but radical belief: that young people are not merely the leaders of tomorrow, but the active architects of today. Through civic engagement, democratic participation, research-driven advocacy, and collective action, MLD gives young Mauritians the tools, the platform, and the community to shape the country they want to live in.
We don’t wait for a seat at the table. From secondary school corridors to UN negotiating rooms, MLD members are already there: organising, advocating, and winning.
What We Do
Change doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when empowered, connected young people combine lived experience with evidence-based advocacy and direct it at the institutions, communities, and systems that
shape everyday life.
Through our eight commissions, MLD works across the issues that matter most to young Mauritians: civic participation, education, youth employment, social cohesion, mental health and wellbeing, climate action, diaspora engagement, and policy research.
Every commission is youth-led, evidence-driven, and built for real impact – from the National Assembly to the United Nations.
We have already secured three legislative wins through the national Finance Bill process. This is what youth-led advocacy looks like when it works.

Become part of the movement
MLD is looking for young Mauritians who are ready to do the work: researchers, organisers, writers, advocates, creatives, and community builders who believe that civic action is the most powerful thing a young person can do right now.
We don’t need you to have all the answers. We need you to show up, contribute, and build something that outlasts all of us.
Applications are open. We review them on a rolling basis.
